The Tulsa Drillers are a professional baseball team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The team is a member of the Texas League and plays its home games at ONEOK Field. The Drillers are currently managed by former Major League Baseball player and manager, Scott Hennessey.Scott Hennessey was born in San Diego, California and attended San Diego State University. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round of the 1989 MLB Draft.
He played in the minor leagues for five years before making his major league debut with the Giants in 1994.He played for the Giants for two seasons before being traded to the Chicago Cubs in 1996.He played for the Cubs for two seasons before being traded to the Texas Rangers in 1998.He played for the Rangers for two seasons before retiring from professional baseball in 2000.After his playing career ended, Hennessey began his coaching career as a minor league coach with the Rangers in 2001.He was promoted to manager of their Double-A affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers, in 2003.He managed the Drillers for three seasons before being promoted to manager of their Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma RedHawks, in 2006.He managed the RedHawks for three seasons before returning to manage the Drillers in 2009.Hennessey has been with the Drillers ever since and has led them to three division titles and one league championship during his tenure. He has also been named Texas League Manager of the Year twice, in 2011 and 2014.Under his leadership, the Drillers have become one of the most successful teams in Minor League Baseball and have developed some of the best players in baseball today.Scott Hennessey is an experienced and successful manager who has been with the Tulsa Drillers since 2009.He has led them to three division titles and one league championship during his tenure and has been named Texas League Manager of the Year twice.
